The Sharad Pawar Trophy Twenty20 leather ball cricket competition will be held from January 25 to February 8, 2023, and is being organized by the Rashtrawadi Yuvak Congress, Nagpur City, and Rajiv Vichar Manch.
Vasant Nagar and Ambedkar College will host the two-week tournament jointly.
Shailendra Tiwari, president of the Rashtrawadi Yuvak Congress in Nagpur City, spoke at a news conference on Friday at the SJAN office and stated that the state-level invitational T20 cricket event is being staged as a part of Sharad Krida Mahotsav, which will be observed on January 25.
16 teams to compete in the tournament
Despite the high desire for participation, the organizers indicated they would limit the number of teams to 16. Four groups made up of each of the 16 participating teams will be equally split. According to Shailendra Tiwari, the group’s victor will automatically qualify for the semifinals. The VCA has acknowledged the competition and will supply the competition with official umpires and scorers, he continued.
Champion team to get Rs 1.51 lakh as a cash prize
The winner of the competition will get a handsome cash prize of Rs 1,51,000, while the runners-up will be richer by Rs 1 lakh. Individual prizes like man-of-the-match, best batsman, best bowler, and man-of-the-series are also up for grabs. The entry fee is Rs 30000 per team.
Teams from all over Maharashtra participate
Along with one team from Mumbai, teams from Vidarbha will compete for the top prizes. Teams from Mumbai, Nagpur, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Amravati will participate in the competition. Tiwari reported that prestigious Orange City teams including Ambedkar College Sports Academy, Ruby Cricket Club, Mujumdar Cricket Academy, Navniketan, and Nagpur Cricket Academy had already confirmed their attendance.
The tournament will be officially inaugurated on January 25 at 11 a.m. at the Vasant Nagar field by NCP leaders Salil Deshmukh and Duneshwar Pethe. Teams can register their entries from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Shradha Bungalow in Civil Lines, Nagpur.
