With the campaigning for elections in the Teacher’s Constituency for electing MLC, ending on Saturday, the leaders and the candidates are relying on personal contacts. The election turned out to be prestigious for established political leaders and political groups.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is relying on its strength and strategy, which resulted in getting Abhijit Wanjari elected from the graduate constituency. The graduates’ constituency, which was a strong fort of the Bharatiya Janata Party was broken by Wanjari. MVA is planning for a similar performance in the teachers’ constituency.
The election has turned out to be between senior political leaders MPCC President Nana Patole, former ministers Sunil Kedar and Vijay Wadettiwar on one side and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and BJP State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule on the other.
While selecting the candidates both MVA and BJP took a long time to decide.
Leaders in the academic field, MLC Abhijit Wanjari and Dr. Babanrao Taywade, Vishvanath Daigavane are using their experience for MVA candidate Sudhakar Adabale. BJP supported Nago Ganar, who is seeking election for the third consecutive term. Although other candidates are in the fray, a major tussle is expected between the two – Adabale and Ganar.
The polling is scheduled for January 30. The polling being through the preferential voting system, the results may be announced a little late on February 2.
