Polling for electing the Teachers’ representative to the Maharashtra Legislative Council, is in progress on Monday. The contest in the Nagpur constituency has become interesting with 22 candidates in the fray for the lone seat.
Although the three major candidates are stated to be Sudhakar Adabale of Maha-Vikas Aghadi, Rajendra Zade of Shikshak Bharati and Nago Ganar of Bharatiya Janata Party, the others are likely to pose threats to these candidates.
Both Adabale and Ganar had opposition from the inside. Their candidature were not finalised till the last hour.
Polling in Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Bhandara and Gondia will be held between 8 am and 4 pm. In Gadchiroli the timing is between 7 am and 3 pm.
The counting of votes will be held at the Community Hall, Ajni on February 2.
