Chocking of the drain water channel in the Manish Nagar underpass is not new to commuters. Traversing the underpass smoothly is often interrupted by water clogged in the middle portion of the underpass. It is not the rainwater, but drain water coming out of the channel over which the underpass has been constructed.
It was claimed that the underpass would facilitate crossing the railway line, as congestion was common at the railway gate adjacent to the underpass. Faulty construction has posed a problem for the commuters through the underpass. And now the gate at the old railway crossing has been closed.
On Tuesday a vehicle slipped while managing to cross the underpass, which was again filled with drain water. The design of the underpass already is stated to be faulty and prone to accidents. With the closure of the railway crossing, it is being used for commuters on both sides. Water logging has added to the problem. Frequent water logging and problems faced by the commuters make them imagine what could be the problem during the monsoon season.
