As the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 auction takes place in Mumbai, it’s a big day for women’s cricket in India.
Smriti Mandhana, the starting opener for India, was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for the record-breaking sum of Rs. 3.40 crore, while Captain Harmanpreet Kaur sold for Rs. 1.80 crore to the Mumbai Indians.
The Indian women’s team is currently in South Africa for the T20 World Cup. On Sunday, The Women in Blue defeated Pakistan by a score of 7-wickets to kick off their season.
The players watched the WPL 2023 auction on Monday and given some priceless reactions as each player was sold one at a time.

As the bidding war for the 26-year-old started, all the players surrounded Mandhana and cheered for her. As Mandhana was transferred to RCB, the players clapped and jumped for joy.
Ellyse Perry, an Australian all-rounder, joined RCB for Rs. 1.70 crore. Sophie Devine from New Zealand also joined the franchise for Rs. 50 lakh.
