Mumbai registered the first death related to Covid 19 complications after a gap of 78 days. The patient, a 69-year-old man died within 24 hours of hospitalization on April 5. Prior to this, a Covid-19-related death in Mumbai was recorded on January 17.
Mumbai recorded 211 new cases and one fatality on Wednesday.
The deceased had a long history of hypertension and heart disease, according to the Bombay Municipal Corporation health officer.
Covid-19 cases are on the rise in Maharashtra since March. A total of 30 patients died during the last 36 days due to Covid-19 related complications.
Two patients died on Wednesday, one in Mumbai and another from Pimpri-Chinchwad Industrial Area in the Pune district. Maharashtra’s Coronavirus fatality rate stood at 1.82 per cent.
In Nagpur 18 new cases were reported yesterday.
