Former MLA and Congress Party leader Ashish Deshmukh has been suspended from the party, the sources in the party said. Deshmukh was served a show cause notice on April 5, seeking explanation on his (Deshmukh’s) statements made against the party leaders former President Rahul Gandhi and MPCC President Nana Patole.
Deshmukh was issued the show cause notice following a meeting held in Mumbai chaired by ex-CM Prithviraj Chavan. Deshmukh wanted Rahul Gandhi to apologise to the OBC community for making statements against it. In an interview to a Marathi news channel, Deshmukh also alleged that Patole is getting money from the present Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Taking serious note of Deshmukh’s statements the Disciplinary Committee of the party convened a meeting and issued a show cause notice. The Committee has charged Deshmukh of anti-party activities.
Deshmukh was suspended from the party and directed not to make any public statement till the issue is resolved. The party leaders in Nagpur did not respond to the phone calls by The Live Nagpur.
