Two body cameras (bodycams) have been purchased by the Regional Transport Office, Nagpur Rural, and will be utilised by the flying squad and a team of highway squads to take action against vehicles in an effort to reduce traffic accidents in the area.
RTO, Nagpur Rural, notified RTO, Nagpur Rural, Vijay Chavan on Thursday that this project was being done for the first time in Maharashtra.
The squad officers will fix body cam on the front side of the body during examining the vehicle and counsel drivers on road safety, situation of vehicles on highways, rules etc.
If the driver violates rules while doing so then it would be captured in body cam and then the officer would take action.
This will help reduce road mishaps, Chavan said.
