Former MLA Ashish Deshmukh has finally been removed from the Congress party, including his primary membership. Deshmukh was issued a show cause notice on April 5 and was suspended by the party’s high command. Deshmukh made statements against very senior leaders of the party including ex-President Rahul Gandhi and Maharashtra unit chief Nana Patole. He was required to submit his reply to the notice within three days.
On Friday Deshmukh was sacked from the party. He wanted Rahul Gandhi to apologise to the OBC community for allegedly making a statement against it. He also alleged Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Nana Patole of getting Rs 1 crore (one Khoka) per month from the Maharashtra Chief Minister. Deshmukh made the statement against Patole during an interview telecast by a Marathi news channel. Deshmukh made the statement against Patole as he did not attend the ‘Vajramuth’ rally of Maha Vikas Aghadi in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
