Every government medical college in Maharashtra will have an affiliated nursing college, said Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan here on Friday.
He was speaking at an event to raise awareness about organ donation at the Government Medical College here.
“Every medical college in the state will have an affiliated nursing college,” he said, adding that the goal is to create a pool of qualified nurses.
The government has received a proposal to upgrade the health facility at Paithan in the district from 30 to 100 beds and it will be considered positively, he said.
In terms of organ donation, Mahajan stated that in the West, 3,500 people out of every 10,000 donate organs, whereas in India, the ratio is one in 10,000. “As a result, organ donation should become a movement rather than just an event,” Mahajan said.
Dr Bhagwat Karad, a Union minister from the Aurangabad district, and Aurangabad MP Imtiaz Jaleel were also present at the event.
In response to Karad’s demand that doctors be hired on a contract basis to fill vacancies at state government hospitals, Mahajan stated, “Posts of 1,432 residential doctors have been sanctioned, 778 doctors have been interviewed, and they will join service soon.”
The minister stated that 5,056 vacancies for group D and C employees will be filled within two months, and that nearly 15,000 positions will be filled overall.
In his speech, Jaleel stated that the government was establishing more medical colleges but had not recruited enough teaching staff.
“It is commendable that the BJP government has decided to establish medical colleges in all districts. (However, the state government issued a notice directing existing staff to relocate to other districts because an inspection by the National Medical Commission was scheduled.) “He asserted.
“If there are so many teaching vacancies in existing medical colleges, simply constructing buildings will not suffice. Medical schools should have teaching staff. This cheating must stop, and the government must admit openly that there are vacancies “Jaleel stated.
He also questioned the delay in hiring class 4 staff at the Government Medical College in Aurangabad.
