A case against the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has been filed by the Enforcement Directorate for alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
The central investigation agency, ED, registered a case against BBC India in connection with foreign exchange violations. The investigating agency has sought documents and recordings of statements from some BBC officials under the provisions of FEMA. This is the first time that such an action has been taken against the BBC in India.
In February, officials of the Income Tax Department raided the BBC office in Delhi. The Income Tax Department will investigate BBC in a case of FDI violation.
