Fire Service Week 2023 is being observed at National Fire Service College, Nagpur from 14th April to 20th April 2023. The week commenced with commemoration ceremony at Martyrs’ column in the campus where Hon’ble Director Sh. RM Kshirsagar, officers, staff and trainee officers of the institution paid homage to the brave fire fighters who lost their lives during the Victoria Dock explosion at Mumbai on 14th April, 1944. The wreath laying ceremony was followed by floral tribute to the portrait of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by Hon’ble Director in Academic Building. Trainees and employees of NFSC also pinned flags in the memory of the martyred fire fighters.
Fire Service Week is observed at NFSC in line of directions issued from the office of Director General of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards on the theme ‘AGNI: Awareness in Fire Safety for Growth of National Infrastructure’.
In view of making general public aware of the necessity for minimizing losses due to fire thus having them contribute to the national development, NFSC is organizing various awareness programs. Activities such as Fit India Movement, Khelo India, and technical sessions on fire safety, capacity building programmes, fire drills, demonstrations, blood donation, and fire awareness programs are being conducted to increase the awareness about fire safety among public.
Distribution of Gallantry medals of Fire service, Civil Defence and Home Guards is also being organized by Directorate General of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards at NFSC on 17th April, 2023 in which Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs Sh. Nityanand Rai will be the chief guest.
The week will be concluded with a closing ceremony on 20th April, 2023 with felicitations of the participants of fire drill competitions and capacity building programmes.
