On Wednesday evening, two Nagpur-bound persons were killed and two others were seriously injured in a car accident on Samruddhi Mahamarg near Pimpalgaon Bahnai Village in Nandgaon Kandeshwat tehsil near Amravati.
They were all Mumbai citizens on their way to Nagpur for the Vajramuth rall of Maha Vikas Aghadi on April 16. On Wednesday evening, Raju Shinde (62), Atul Tawade (60), both from Dahisar in Mumbai, and Prathamesh Patil were in a car (MH-27-BB-6574) travelling from Mumbai to Nagpur through Samruddhi Mahamarg.
When the speeding car got close to Pimpalgaon Bahnai village, the driver, Kishor Anant Mhatre, lost control and crashed into a roadside iron barrier. The force of the dash killed Raju Shinde and Atul Tawade on the spot, while Balkrushna Dhabale and Prahesh Patil were severely injured.
Kishor Anant Mhatre, the driver, suffered minor injuries.Mangrul Chawhala Police and Highway Police teams arrived on the scene and took the injured to Amravati. The officers had to work hard to get the badly lodged dead bodies out of the car.
One of the injured is being treated at the District General facility in Amravati, while another is being treated at a private facility in the city. The case has been reported to Mangrul Chawhala police.
