Modern technology is now being applied to prevent growing human-animal conflict. Probably the first experiment in India is being carried out in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. Artificial Intelligence is put to use in the area.
Deputy Director of Buffer Zone of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Project Kushagra Pathak said that a virtual wall is being created through a cloud server. This would help in saving villagers around the forest. The images will be projected by high-resolution cameras. The presence of the tiger would be identified using by comparing images with the database using Machine Learning Algorithm. The information will be transferred to the Forest Officials. The alert system would also monitor the movement of the tiger. Tiger hunting animals in villages or attacking villagers can be reduced through this alert system. The villagers have responded positively to the proposal.
The human-animal conflict increased as the number of tigers increased and at the same time, their territory was reduced due to afforestation. The Tadoba-Andhari project would be a model to be followed in other forests. Tadoba is the most popular tiger project in the world.
