At least 12 people were killed in a bus accident on old Pune-Mumbai road on Saturday. About 25 other passengers were injured as the bus fell into a ditch near Singroba Temple in Borghat.
The private bus had 40 passengers on board. The bus fell into the ditch as the driver lost control of the steering. The death of 12 people has been confirmed. The ill-fated bus left Pune late in the night and was going to Mumbai.
On getting information about the accident rescue teams reached the spot immediately. The injured were shifted to a municipal hospital in Khopoli.
Superintendent of Police of Raigad Somnath Gharge informed the media that the bus was transporting a team of Baji Prabhu Wadak Gat (orchestra) from Goregaon, Mumbai. The team was returning after performing in Pune.
Besides police personnel, the local Hikers Group and IRB Team are helping in the rescue operations.
