Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, finally makes his debut in the Indian Premier League during Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2023 match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Arjun, who was roped in by MI in the 2021 auction and has been part of the side since the last three seasons, earns his first cap with the franchise on a special ESA Day at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The 23-year-old is a left-arm pacer by trade that has worked on his batting over the past six months, scoring a hundred on his Ranji Trophy debut for Goa against Rajasthan last year in December.
Back to the match, Mumbai Indians made several changes to their playing 11, including the change of captain as Suryakumar Yadav stepped in for Rohit Sharma, who was named among the Impact substitute players.
Also making his debut for MI, was Duan Jansen, the sibling of Marco Jansen. The South African received his cap from Suryakumar, while Arjun received his cap from record title-winning captain Rohit.
With this appearance, Arjun and Sachin become the first father and son duo to feature in the IPL. The duo also made their debut for the record five-time champions Mumbai Indians.
