Nagpur Amateur Sports Association (NASA) is all set to organise Basketball Premier League at its twin courts under the floodlight in Surendra Nagar from April 18 to 23.
Addressing media persons secretary of NASA Pranay Ghate said, “Seven boys and eight girls teams will vie for the top honours. “We invited six top players form each club and formed the teams. The league include an all-play all league in the boys section whereas in the girls seciton, eight teams have been divided in two pools and top two from each group will play semis”, he said.
The winner in each category will get Rs 21,000 whereas the runners-up team will receive Rs15,000. The third prize will be Rs 11,000. Apart from it there will be individual prizes for out- standing players of each match”.
About the objective behind the league Ghate said, “The league has been organised to promote the basketball at highest level and the league will be held annually to sup- port the cause”, he said.
District collector Dr Vipin Itankar will inaugurate the league at 6 p.m. in the pres- ence of Maha Basketball As- sociation president Dr Dha- nanjay welukar, secretary Shatrughna Gokhale, NDBA secratery Bhavesh Kuchan- war and others.
