Uddhav Thackeray Group MLA Nitin Deshmukh’s Jal Sanghras Yatra has been stopped by the Nagpur Police and Deshmukh and his Villegers have been detained and sent back to Akola.
The issue of saline water table in Balapur Assembly Constituency of Akola District has been pending for many years. Meanwhile, when Uddhav Thackeray was the Chief Minister, he approved the water supply scheme for Balapur. The work of this plan has started. However, MLA Deshmukh alleging that Fadnavis had suspended the scheme after the transfer of power in the state.
Citizens of 69 villages of Balapur taluka participated in this yatra. The marchers were going to the house of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with water collected from all these villages.
This yatra started from Balapur 10 days ago and reached Dhamana in Nagpur district yesterday. As a precaution, Nagpur police stopped the yatra this
morning and detained MLA Nitin Deshmukh and the protestors and sent them back to Akola.
MLA Nitin Deshmukh is known as firebrand MLA of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena. MLA Deshmukh was initially involved in the rebellion led by Eknath Shinde. But after returning from Surat to Mumbai, he again joined the Thackeray group. Meanwhile, Deshmukh was interrogated by ACB after leaving the Shinde group.
