The unseasonal thundeshowers and rains on Thursday evening caught Nagpurians on the wrong foot. Sudden strong winds and showers held the traffic to a grinding halt for about an hour. This was followed by traffic jams as several trees were uprooted or their branches fell on electric wires causing disruption in power supply in almost entire city.
Although official statement from the Met office is awaited the strong wind caused serious problems for the commuters. They had to take several turns from their regular routes to find the ways to their homes. Most of the office goers were returning home, when the thunderstorm disrupted their routine.
The civic authorities were not prepared for clearing the roads immediately due to unseasonal rains. People had to take longer routes to reach their homes.
