After many years for the first time besides other organs, heart and lungs of a brain dead patient were successfully sent to Delhi and Mumbai respectively. This is being seen as a big achievement for the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC), Nagpur.
On April 19, 4.30 PM, Ganesh Namdeo Masram, a private office employee, was driving a two wheeler and met with an accident at Kalamba, Kalmeshwar and was admitted at Aureus Hospital with severe head injuries. His medical examination of MRI brain test showed brain stem damage. He was declared brain dead on April 22 three days after treatment by the team of doctors after his condition started deteriorating.
Father Namdeo and cousins Dinesh and Ashok were counselled by Anirudha Koparkar and Dinesh Mandpe. Family agreed to donate all possible organs including Pancreas and Intestine saying that my Son will be alive in many people. The family gave consent for Lungs, Heart, Liver , both Kidneys, Pancreas, and pair of Corneas.
The Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC), Nagpur Committee, headed by President- Dr. Sanjay Kolte and Secretary- Dr. Rahul Saxena allocated Organs by National Guidelines.

Liver– Seven Star Hospital, Nagpur W.L. patient 63 yrs. Male
Kidney 1– 45 yrs Male-Wockhardt Hospital, Nagpur.
Kidney 2- 40 yrs, Female, Care Hospital, Nagpur.
Pancreas -found medically unfit for Transplant
Pair of Corneas– Madhav Netra Pedhi team arrived but relatives declined corneal donation.
Brain Dead Committee at Aureus Hospital :

Team of Dr. Pravin Kulkarni, John Thomas, Vivek Tikone, Pranay Chile,Devidan Janardan, Siju Kuttan came by charter flight and Heart reached within 4 hours to Jupitar hospital via Green corridor.

Aureus hospital staff created the honour corridor and paid tributes to the donor and provided free ambulance service up to their residence.
