On Monday, the Maharashtra Home Department announced many appointments and transfers of top police officials to fill vacancies that had been unfilled for several months in the state’s second capital, Nagpur.
Ashok Morale, the city’s assistant commissioner of police, has been named Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the State Reserve Police Force Nagpur.
Sanjay B Patil, a Deputy Commissioner from Mumbai, has been promoted to Addl CP Crime in Nagpur.
Former Nagpur DCP Sarang Awad, who is currently the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Buldhana, has also been promoted and will be the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the CID in Pune.
For a while, the Nagpur police force has been dealing with a senior officer shortage.
