Unseasonal rains damaged up to 2,076 hectares of agricultural land in eastern Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district, officials said on Thursday, while one human and 42 animals have died in related events.
The Regional Meteorological Centre reported 24.2 mm of rain in Yavatmal from Wednesday until 10 a.m. on Thursday.
According to the initial report released by the collector’s office, as many as 152 houses were also damaged in the showers that lashed the district in 24 hours ending on Thursday morning.
Rain and hailstorms harmed crops such as jowar, corn, vegetables, and onions, according to the report.
