The Meteorological Department has warned that a heat wave could hit Vidarbha in the next couple of days with temperatures expected to reach over 45 degrees in some districts.
Come May, the temperature has crossed 40 degrees in many districts of Vidarbha. Citizens are suffering from this rising heat as it increases the possibility of people suffering from heat stroke. The temperature in all the districts of Vidarbha crossed 40 degrees Celsius yesterday (May 11). Akola and Wardha districts recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius.
In April and early May, the temperature decreased due to unseasonal rains, now in the middle of May, the sun is shining again. Hot winds approaching Vidarbha from the North. Due to this, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a Heatwave warning in the Vidarbha region. The people of Vidarbha might have to bear the scorching heat through the rest of May.
The rise in heat is being attributed to the storm Mocha looming over the Bay of Bengal. The storm is extracting moisture from the Indian mainland, causing a surge in temperature.
