The Additional District Consumer Grievance Redressal Commission sentenced Ashwin Harish Masand to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 in a contempt case.
Commission’s presiding member Smita Chandekar and member Avinash Prabhune pronounced the verdict on the case filed by PS Raju, a resident of the Hindustan Colony.
Raju had bought a flat in the scheme of Jyoti Agency. Jyoti Agency did not register the sale deed of that flat. Raju lodged a complaint against this with the commission. On 15 April 2006, the commission partially accepted the complaint and issued several other orders regarding the sale of the flat to Jyoti Agency.
The commission had given two months’ time to comply with the order. However, the Jyoti Agency did not follow the orders. Following this Raju filed a petition with the commission. During the proceedings, the commission found that Ashwin Masand, partner of Jyoti Agency, deliberately disobeyed the order.
