Minister for Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar has announced that a theater will be fined Rs 10 lakh if it does not show Marathi films for four weeks in a year. Despite the quality of Marathi films, Marathi producers complain that they do not get screens in their own state. This matter has come out more prominently from some recent incidents. Now the state cultural department has taken an important decision on it.
A meeting on providing prime time for Marathi films in theaters was held today in Mantralaya under the chairmanship of Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
Many movies of Marathi and other subjects are released in Maharashtra. But for the last few years, after the release of Marathi movies, there are many complaints that some movies are not getting theaters.cultural affairs minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that in the coming time, a working system will be prepared for the screening of Marathi movies in theatres.
The Department of Cultural Affairs will take the initiative to establish a definite working system for Marathi films and for this, the coordination of various departments with the Home Department will be necessary. Sudhir Mungantiwar said that while the Amrit Mahotsav of Indian Independence is being celebrated, there will be a separate system for screening Marathi films in cinemas.
In the meeting held today, Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that the producers of Marathi films should give their statements in the next 15 days so that a comprehensive meeting on this issue can be held after June 15.
Sudhir Mungantiwar also gave instructions that a study should be done on whether some regulations can be prepared in this regard as many movies are being released on the OTT platform.
