The Supreme Court has refused an early hearing on Nawab Malik’s appeal for interim bail on health grounds. The Nationalist Congress Party leader and former Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik is in jail for money laundering and property transactions of global terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.
The court refused to hear Malik’s petition early, saying that the matter is pending in the Bombay High Court and a hearing is going on there. “Let the High Court do the hearing. We will hear in the second week of July.”
Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Nawab Malik, said that his one kidney has failed and the other is ‘stopping work’, so he should be granted bail.
Malik was arrested by the ED on February 23, 2022, under the Money Laundering Act in connection with alleged property transactions involving fugitive terrorists Dawood Ibrahim and his associates.
