Indian Air Force has stopped all flights of Mig-21 till the completion of an enquiry into the crash in Rajasthan on May 8. The fighter jet crashed in Hanumangadhi in Rajasthan, in which three women died.
The fitness of Mig-21 fighter jets was under controversy for its fitness. The single-engine, single-seat fighter aircraft was included in the IAD fleet in 1963, and their attack features were upgraded recently. A plan to retire them by 2025 was also prepared. The IAF has 31 combat aircraft squadrons, including three squadrons of Mig-21.
During the last 16 months, seven Mig-21 jets crashed.
Indian Army has stopped operations of Dhruv helicopters for one month after a helicopter crashed in Kishtwad in Jammu-Kashmir on May 4.
