The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has launched Recycling, Reuse, and Reduce (RRR) centres as part of the “My Life, My Clean City” campaign initiated by the Central Government. These centres have been established at 38 locations across the ten zones of Nagpur, aiming to promote cleanliness and sustainability. The recent inauguration took place at the Dharampeth Zone office, led by Mr. Radhakrishnan B., Commissioner and Administrator of the corporation.
Citizens are encouraged to deposit their unused items, such as old clothes, books, bags, toys, and plastic, at the RRR centres for recycling and reuse, benefiting both the environment and those in need. The centres serve as collection points, facilitating citizen participation in waste management and contributing to a cleaner Nagpur.
The event witnessed the presence of officials from various departments, including the Solid Waste Management Department and the Social Development Department. Commissioner and Administrator Mr. Radhakrishnan B. highlighted the corporation’s commitment to providing basic amenities and shared the vision of making Nagpur a clean, beautiful, and healthy city.
These RRR centers also create employment opportunities for women from savings groups, enabling them to earn a livelihood while actively contributing to waste management and cleanliness. The initiative aligns with the Pradhan Mantri Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihood Mission, which focuses on waste segregation and collection.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s efforts, combined with citizen participation and women’s savings groups, aim to achieve a clean, beautiful, and sustainable Nagpur.
