Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi, aged 86, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital due to a deterioration in his health. He is currently in the ICU and receiving care from a team of senior doctors.
Uddhav Thackeray, the current Chief Minister, his wife Rashmi, and other family members rushed to the hospital to inquire about Joshi’s well-being. No official medical bulletin regarding his condition has been released thus far.
Manohar Joshi, a prominent figure in the Shiv Sena party, served as the state’s Chief Minister from 1995 to 1999 in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He also held the esteemed position of Lok Sabha Speaker from 2002 to 2004 during the tenure of late Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. Joshi, known for his close association with Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, began his political journey as a member of the Legislative Council and served as the Mayor of Mumbai from 1976 to 1977. While he has been less active in recent years, his contributions to Maharashtra’s political landscape remain noteworthy.
