From June 1, the registration of births and deaths will be carried out online at both the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo) in Nagpur.
The Additional Commissioner of the Department of Health Services, Ram Joshi, has directed both hospital administrations regarding this through a letter. It has been specified that all births and deaths occurring at the Medical College and Mayo Hospital in Nagpur from June 1, 2023, will be registered online. Furthermore, the registration of births and deaths in all private hospitals associated with the Municipal Corporation will be conducted in the respective zones of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
As per the state government’s notification, the heads of all government health institutions have been designated as Registrars of Births and Deaths. They are expected to issue birth and death certificates for all recorded events that have taken place in their respective institutions or buildings. The Health Services Commissionerate, Pune, has mentioned in their letter that it is mandatory for these health institutions to register births and deaths on the website www.crsorgi.gov.in and issue the corresponding certificates. In this context, the Medical College and Mayo administration in the city have already started the online process and have submitted a report regarding the commencement of birth and death registration to the Deputy Director of Health Services (Statistics) in Pune, as well as the Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths Office.
