The BCCI has started its preparations for the One Day Cricket World Cup to be held in the country. In view of this, BCCI has prepared a list of 15 cities of the country, where matches will be organized. According to the information received from the sources, the name of the sub-capital is also included in this list. After this the discussion has started that a match of the World Cup will also be played in Nagpur.
There is a possibility that the league match can be organized along with the warm-up match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association ground in Nagpur. Apart from Nagpur, the list includes Mumbai, Pune along with Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamshala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, Trivandrum, and Ahmedabad.
The World Cup is to be played from October 5 to November 19. A total of 48 matches including knockout matches are to be played in this biggest cricket league which lasts for 46 days. Currently, the BCCI is busy finalizing the Cricket World Cup schedule. The final announcement will be made during the World Test Championship final. After which the board will share the list of shortlisted cities with the ICC only after which the complete picture will be clear.
The last ODI World Cup was played in India in 2011. During that time four league matches were played in Nagpur. It also includes the match between India and South Africa. India had to face defeat in this match played in Jamtha. India scored 296 runs in 48.4 overs losing 10 wickets. In the match, Sachin played a brilliant inning of 111 runs. While chasing the target, the South African team achieved the target with two balls to spare. With this, the African team had won the match by three wickets.
