The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board held a public hearing for the proposed
1,320 MW power plant at Koradi. Various environmentalists and voluntary organizations, including the Congress Party and Shivsena, opposed this project. Members of Koradi Nagpur Climate Crisis and Congress workers lodging protests during the public hearing.
Opponents of the project demanded immediate cancellation of the proposed project if the lives of the people are to be saved. MLA Vikas Thackeray on behalf of Congress, Vilas Barbate on behalf of Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray Shiv Sena and representatives of various political parties presented their position aggressively on this occasion.
Earlier, Aditya Thackeray had opposed this project. He tweeted that usually hearings of such issues are held in the Collector’s office or at a larger venue. The Koradi Power Plant expansion hearing is being held in the project’s conference hall. I hope everyone who wishes to raise suggestions and objections will be given an opportunity and sufficient time to be heard. Along with this, he has also posted a leaflet giving information about mass destruction.
