BJP Tamil Nadu President, K Annamalai, addressed the media in Chennai, discussing the delimitation of Lok Sabha seats after 2026. He emphasized that the process would be fair and equitable, taking into account everyone’s concerns.
The Tamil Nadu BJP president’s address came after the concerns raised about the decrease in seats representing the South Indian state compared to a possible rise in the representation of North Indian states.
The concerns are being raised as the Lok Sabha is due to increase its strength from 543 to 848, as per the latest census data.
This has also become a bone of contention among political parties as the delimitation commission allocates representation based on the population. This means that the South Indian states which have been successful in controlling their population might get lesser seats in the parliament compared to the northern states that are more densely populated.
