The 8th International Convention of SPIC MACAY showcased Manipur’s captivating dance form, ‘Pung Cholom,’ blending Indian culture and acrobatics. Renowned Manipuri musician Guru Kirti Singh presented this unique art with his talented troupe, impressing the audience with acrobatics, and martial arts, on the rhythmic beats of the ‘Pung’ drum.
Dressed in traditional attire, the artists exhibited the rich culture of Manipur. The one-and-a-half-hour performance earned a standing ovation from the spellbound spectators. The convention’s first session also featured Maharashtra’s folk music ‘Shahiri’ and Punjabi divine music ‘Gurubani.’
Shahir Vijay Pandey’s energetic rendition of the Maharashtrian folk art ‘Powada’ delighted the audience. Dr. Alankar Singh and his disciples provided a spiritual experience with their soulful Gurubani performance. Manipuri Musicians Guru Kirti Singh and Shahir Vijay Pandey were honoured during the event for their contributions to Indian culture. The convention celebrates India’s diverse artistic heritage, leaving the spectators in awe.
The SPICMACAY 8th InterCon event is being held at VNIT college in Nagpur from 29th May to 4th June 2023.
