Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is launching an innovative pilot project named ‘TrafficRewards’ to incentivize the citizens who display good traffic behavior in Nagpur. This is one of it’s kind app that gives reward points when citizens follow the traffic signals in Nagpur. These points can be used to redeem rewards from 100+ National, International, and local brands. The project is funded by The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India. It will be inaugurated by Shri. Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India on 3rd June.
To get the rewards, the user has to install the Traffic Rewards app from Play Store or apple store and register their details. Citizens who register will get a Traffic Rewards tag delivered to their homes for free. The user then has to apply this tag to their vehicle. When the vehicle with this tag stops at the red signal, RFID scanners (placed at 10 signals as of now) identify it. And the user gets 10 points in the app in real-time. Thus, every time the user follows the signal they will get points. These collected points can be redeemed across 100+ brands like BPCL, Bajaj Allianz, Pizza Hut, KFC, Cinepolis, Kingsway Hospital, Alexis Hospital, etc.
Some of the attractive rewards include free petrol at BPCL petrol pumps, discount on insurance premium from Bajaj Allianz, and other exciting offers on different brands. Rewards worth Rs. 35 crores are available for redemption on the app as of now.
This project is implemented by M/s Social-Impact Innovations Pvt Ltd. with VNIT being the project management consultant. 1,00,000 tags will be distributed to the registered users for free in Nagpur city.
