The carcass of the tiger known as ‘Sawakar’ was found in a rotting state in the Umred-Karhandla sanctuary. this incident came to light on Saturday, the area director of Pench tiger project A. Srilakshmi, Divisional Forest Officer Pramod Panchbhai reached the spot.
All the organs of the tiger were intact while the post-mortem was done according to the standard procedure of the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
The tiger’s body was found with puncture marks and a broken collar bone. Based on this a preliminary estimate was made that tiger may have died in a fight.
