The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) is set to begin the Undergraduate course admissions process by June 15, 2023. However, the process faced a delay due to technical glitches that prevented students from accessing the RTMNU website for registration.
The admission process, overseen by the College Section of the university, is specifically for non-professional Undergraduate courses, excluding fields such as engineering, management, and architecture.
Dr. Raman Madne, Deputy Registrar of the College Section, explained the admission procedure. Students are required to register on the university portal and obtain a unique identification number, which they must present to the colleges they wish to join. Once students submit the necessary documents, the colleges will scrutinize the applications and publish a merit list. Students can then proceed with admission based on their merit number.
While the exact number of participating colleges is currently unknown due to ongoing approvals, affiliation, and de-affiliation processes, it is estimated that over 300 colleges will be part of the admission process. These colleges predominantly offer courses in Science, Commerce, and Arts.
The HSC and CBSE Class XII results have already been announced, and approximately 2 lakh students from the Nagpur region have passed the examinations. Of these, around 1.4 lakh students fall under the purview of RTMNU, while the remaining students from Chandrapur and Gadchiroli colleges are affiliated with Gondwana University.
