Many have claimed that the CSAT paper was heavily skewed towards mathematics and had questions beyond the expected difficulty level. In response to these concerns, a group of over 4,000 students filed a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding a reduction in the cut-off for the CSAT paper this year.
The matter was brought before the Central Administrative Tribunal, which refused to direct the Commission to hold the preliminary results but scheduled a hearing for 6 July 2023.
The results of the preliminary exams are expected to be announced in the coming week. Students highlighted that a significant number of questions in the CSAT paper relied heavily on digits and mathematical problem-solving, extending beyond the prescribed difficulty level of class 10 mathematics. The UPSC chairman and secretary were approached for comments but have not responded yet.
