The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds at a speed of 30/40 kmph very likely to occur all over Vidarbha region during the next three days.
Nagpur, Gondia, Wardha, Yavatmal will face this situation with light rains on June 12 and 13 while Chandrapur will have this activity from June 11 to 13 while Bhandara, Amravati and Gadchiroli will experience thunderstorms, lighting with gusty winds on on June 11 and 13. There is no warning for Akola district for these three days.
Meanwhile, astrometeorologist Dr Mukund Moholkar from the city predicted that the onset of monsoon in Vidarbha would be from June 17 to 20. However, there is a possibility of rains in west Vidarbha only. It would start raining in Buldana, Washim, Amravati and Akola from June 19 or 20.
In the meantime, heat waves continued all over the region as all districts registered maximum day temperatures above 40.0 degrees Celsius to more than 43.0 degrees Celcius on Saturday.
Gondia recorded the highest temperature at 43.4 degrees C today, closely followed by Bhandara where it was 43.1 degrees C. Akola and Brahmapuri registered 42.8 degrees C while Nagpur and Chandrapur registered 42.7 degrees C and 42.6 degrees C respectively.
The heat wave may continue till June 15. There is a possibility of monsoon after June 30.
