Thirteen talented players from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University have been chosen to participate in the trials of the 31st World University Games scheduled to take place in China from July 28 to August 8.
In order to form the Indian team for this prestigious event, a three-day selection trial will be held at KIT, Bhubaneswar. Archers Mangesh Gillurkar, Ghanshyam Gaikwad, Deepak Kumar, and Ojas Deotale, badminton players Prutha Dekate, Sophia Simon, and Bhargavi Rambhad, athletes Shadab Pathan and Riya Dohtare, along with fencer Shruti Joshi, will represent their university. Accompanying the players as coach and trainer are Dr Aditya Soni and Ashiq Chute. The selection process considered their performance in senior nationals, junior nationals, All India varsity sports championships, and Khelo India tournaments. Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Director of Sports and Physical Education at RTMNU, expresses high hopes for the players, particularly Pathan, Dohtare, and international archer Deotale. Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Chaudhary, Pro VC Dr Sanjay Dudhe, Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase, and others extend their best wishes to the players.
