Through the collaboration of ‘The Aakanksha Foundation’ with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, a positive response has been received from the people of Nagpur for admission to English medium schools initiated in various constituencies of Nagpur city. The admission process in these schools has been completed, and a total of 851 applications have been received for 406 available seats.
Students from Nagpur Municipal Corporation schools will now compete with students from other schools. To facilitate this, in the year 2021, the municipal corporation started English medium schools in different areas of Nagpur. The schools are as follows: Babhulban Municipal English Medium School in East Nagpur, Ramnagar Municipal English Medium School in West Nagpur, Rani Durgavati Municipal English Medium School in North Nagpur, Ram Bhau Mhalginagar Municipal English Medium School in South Nagpur, Baburao Bobade Municipal English Medium School in Southwest Nagpur, and Sw. Gopalraoji Motghare (Khadan) Municipal English Medium School in Central Nagpur. The aim of these English medium schools is to provide free education to students. This year, the admission process was conducted for 406 seats, and a total of 851 applications were received. The English medium schools run by the municipal corporation will have a total capacity of 1327 students this year, as stated by Mr. Someshwar Chatterjee, the Managing Director of The Aakanksha Foundation. He further mentioned that in the academic year 2023-24, the Sw. Gopalraoji Motghare (Khadan) English Medium School will have 80 seats each for Junior KG, Senior KG, Grade 1, and Grade 2. Ramnagar Municipal English Medium School will have 40 seats each for Junior KG and Senior KG, 44 seats for Grade 1, and 43 seats for Grade 2. Baburao Bobade Municipal English Medium School will have 40 seats for Junior KG and 80 seats each for Senior KG, Grade 1, and Grade 2. Ram Bhau Mhalginagar Municipal English Medium School will have 40 seats each for Junior KG and Senior KG, and 80 seats each for Grade 1 and Grade 2. Rani Durgavati Municipal English Medium School will have 40 seats each for Junior KG, Senior KG, Grade 1, and Grade 2. The total number of students admitted to these schools will be 280 for Junior KG, 320 for Senior KG, 364 for Grade 1, and 363 for Grade 2.
The admission process for Babhulban Municipal English Medium School, Rani Durgavati Municipal English Medium School, Ram Bhau Mhalginagar Municipal English Medium School, is still ongoing due to ongoing construction work for additional classrooms.
