The 8th anniversary of the Smart City Mission is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. As part of the celebrations, Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited have organized a program to showcase some of the essential infrastructure projects being undertaken. On this occasion, on Friday, citizens of Nagpur were provided with information about various projects under the Smart City and expressed their appreciation for the ongoing work. Citizens present at the event expressed their confidence that Nagpur would soon be recognized as a fully functional Smart City and extended their best wishes.
Eight years ago, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, initiated the Smart City mission with the aim of including 100 cities across the country. Nagpur is also one of the 100 cities included in the Smart City project. Ajay Gulhane, Chief Executive Officer of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited, guided citizens by providing them with information about Nagpur Smart City. On Friday morning, citizens had the opportunity to visit the “Home Sweet Home” building, which is under construction and will serve as a model for projects that will benefit affected citizens in the Nagpur area. The construction work for this building is in its final stages. Additionally, citizens had the chance to observe the progress of road construction in the project area. The road work is being carried out through the tender process. Former councillors Dipak Wadibhasme and Vaishali Rohankar were also present.
In the afternoon, citizens witnessed a demonstration of the Mobile Surveillance Van, which is a valuable asset for their security and also visited the Atal Bihari Vajpayee City Operation Center. The event was attended by representatives from various companies, officials from the field of information technology and experts from the Eira International School. They obtained valuable information regarding the centre’s role in controlling crime in Nagpur and were shown visuals of accidents that occur on the roads. The officials also urged citizens to comply with traffic regulations. Neha Jha, Chief Financial Officer; Bhanupriya Thakur, Company Secretary; Rajesh Dufare, Head of Mobility Department, Dr. Sheel Ghule, Head of Information and Technology Department. Rahul Pandey, Chief Planner, Manish Soni, Public Relations Officer, Dr. Pranita Umredkar, Head of the Environmental Department, Moin Hassan, Shrikant Ahirkar, Anoop Lahori, Kunal Gajbhiye, Apoorva Fadanvis were also present.
