Pointing out that major IT companies, including HCL, TCS, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra, have created several employment opportunities in MIHAN, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari assured that special economic region would create about 1 Lakh jobs for city youth. As new companies set offices in MIHAN, Gadkari called it the new force behind Vidarbha’s development during the recently held “Rising Nagpur” program at Hotel Center Point in Ramdaspeth.
The MIHAN project has gained considerable momentum with major IT companies’ rapid commencement of operations. The influx of these companies has provided employment opportunities for a significant number of individuals, with over 68,000 young professionals already benefiting from the initiative. Gadkari set an ambitious target of reaching one lakh job placements by the end of 2024, underlining his determination to ensure employment for the local youth.
Importantly, Gadkari reassured the audience that pursuing employment opportunities outside Vidarbha would no longer be necessary for the region’s educated youth. He expressed confidence that Nagpur, with its expanding industrial landscape, would offer promising career prospects, eliminating the need for migration in search of employment.
Furthermore, Gadkari shed light on various infrastructural projects that are set to transform Nagpur into a modern metropolis. These include the implementation of 24-hour water supply, the beautification of gardens, the establishment of an Agro Convention Center, the development of an internationally recognized Multimodal Hub in Ajni, a stadium catering to the needs of the disabled, and the expansion of the metro network.
In addition to the IT sector, the establishment of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) within MIHAN will facilitate direct imports and exports, further enhancing Nagpur’s global significance.
Gadkari also revealed plans for constructing an eight-lane road connecting MIHAN to various key locations. Notably, a double-decker bridge over Khapri will accommodate the extension of the metro, with the upper level designated for metro rail and the lower level catering to traffic flow, including a road beneath it. This infrastructure development is expected to reduce travel time and enhance connectivity to Butibori significantly.
As MIHAN continues to flourish and attract investments, Nagpur’s emergence as a key economic and industrial hub in Vidarbha seems increasingly inevitable. With concerted efforts by the government and active participation from businesses, the region is poised for accelerated growth and development, ultimately improving the quality of life for its residents.
