Flash floods have struck the Bagipul area of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh, leaving more than 200 people, including tourists and locals, stranded near Baggi Bridge on Mandi Prashar Road. Sanjeev Sood, DSP Padhar, Mandi District Police, confirmed the situation and stated that evacuation efforts were underway to relocate the affected individuals to safer places. The flash flood occurred after a cloudburst near Baghi bridge, leading to the closure of the road to Parashar ahead of Kamand.
In addition, landslides have been reported in various locations along the Pandoh-Mandi National Highway between Charmile and Satmile. As a result, the National Highway has been closed, causing disruptions in transportation. The Mandi-Kullu road via Katola is also closed due to a heavy landslide near Kamand, and arrangements are being made for stranded individuals while efforts are being made to clear the debris.
The region has been experiencing incessant rainfall, causing waterlogging and damage in several parts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a flash flood risk warning for 24 hours and a weather warning for the next five days, cautioning about heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in Kangra, Mandi, and Solan districts. Farmers have been advised to take precautions to protect their crops from the impact of rain and reschedule the spraying of insecticides. The Beas River in Mandi has seen increased water levels due to continuous rainfall, and other areas in Himachal Pradesh have also reported extensive damage.
