The 2023 World Cup trophy made sporting history as it became the first official trophy sent to space. On June 26, the trophy reached an astonishing altitude of 120,000 feet and endured freezing temperatures of -65 degrees Celsius. The momentous occasion was unveiled through a captivating video shared by Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). After its space adventure, the trophy landed at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, one of the tournament’s venues. This incredible journey was made possible by attaching the trophy to a specially designed stratospheric balloon. Following its return, the trophy will embark on a tour across 18 countries, including India, the United States, Italy, France, Uganda, Nigeria, Malaysia, Bahrain, and Kuwait, allowing fans worldwide to witness this historic prize. The tour will begin on June 27 and culminate on September 4, adding excitement and anticipation to the upcoming 50-over tournament. The World Cup trophy’s voyage to space represents the pinnacle of achievement and symbolizes the dreams of cricketing nations vying for victory in the tournament.
