Nationalist Congress Party has moved a disqualification against the leaders including Ajit Pawar who joined the Shiv Sena-BJP Government in Maharashtra on Sunday.
NCP Maharashtra Unit President Jayant Patil has informed the media that the disqualification petition has been submitted to the Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar.
In a surprise move, nine NCPO leaders led by Ajit Pawar joined Shiv Sena-BJP Government and took oath as ministers on Sunday afternoon. Jayant Patil said that they did not inform anyone that they are leaving the party, which is against the party rules. He said that most of the legislators will come back. Except for the nine who have taken oath as ministers others are welcome back in the NCP, Patil added.
Patil said that the NCP MLAs cannot be called traitors as their betrayal has not yet been proved. Many of those who signed the memorandum supporting Ajit Pawar, are in contact with NCP leaders.
Ajit Pawar on Sunday said that they have not left the party and joined the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance as NCP. Ajit Pawar claimed that he has most of the MLAs with him. In a democracy, the majority is important, which he has. The youngsters needed the opportunity to lead the party to further development.
