RTO has taken the fatal accident on Samruddhi Expressway very seriously. A 24/7 force has been deployed at the entry point of the highway itself. In particular, documents, tires and emergency exits of the travel bus are being checked. Only if all this is in order then permission is given for further traffic.
As many as 1,287 accidents occurred on the Samriddhi Highway in the last 6 months and 19 days. There are 70 fatal, 837 serious and 380 minor accidents.
The move comes after 25 passengers of a bus were charred to death near Buldhana on Saturday. The incident has awakened the entire system. So far 95 people have lost their lives on this highway.
Although measures were taken by the RTO from the beginning to prevent accidents, it was lax in the meantime. But after this incident, the Regional Transport Officer has decided to check every vehicle at the ‘entry point’ of the Samriddhi Highway. For that, 3 teams have been appointed for 24/. In the last 24 hours, this team has inspected 70 travel buses.
