The Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) has launched a pilot project featuring 12 innovative e-Toilets across Nagpur City. These unmanned electronic toilets utilize sensor-based technology, are self-cleaning, and portable, according to a local English daily report. The initiative aims to provide relief and convenience to the public in crowded areas. Developed by Eram Scientific Solutions, the e-Toilets have separate units for men and women, with a coin-operated flushing system and UV radiation-based self-cleaning mechanism. Waste management is ensured through drainage connection, with biodigesters as an alternative solution. The NSSCDCL plans to install an additional 100 e-Toilets in the coming months, targeting locations identified by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). The company responsible for developing the e-Toilets will monitor and maintain them for six years, with penalties for inadequate maintenance. This project aims to address restroom availability and maintenance issues, prioritizing sanitation and enhancing the quality of life for Nagpur’s citizens.
