President of India Droupadi Murmu reached Nagpur on Tuesday evening on a three-day tour of Vidarbha. This is the maiden visit of Murmu after taking over as President of India.
Murmu was welcomed at the airport by Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Divisional Commissioner Vijaylaxmi Bidri, District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari and Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar.
Murmu reached Raj Bhavan, where about 750 security personnel and 3,000 police personnel have been deployed. The security cover includes five DCPs and 16 ACPs, 15 BDS Groups, two companies of SRPF, and 700 Homeguards.
Murmu will attend the tenth Convocation of Gondwana University, Gadchiroli on July 5. She will inaugurate the Cultural Centre of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Koradi in the evening. She will be felicitated on behalf of Maharashtra Government at Raj Bhavan on July 6, and return to Delhi on the same day.
