In the wake of recent political developments in Maharashtra that have surprised many, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel has emphasized his unwavering respect and regard for NCP chief Sharad Pawar, whom he considers his mentor.
Speaking to ANI, Patel expressed his admiration for Pawar, stating, “Sharad Pawar is our mentor and Guru…we will always respect and regard him and his position. He is a father figure to all of us.” Patel further explained that the use of Pawar’s picture by the NCP is not a sign of disrespect but rather a display of their reverence towards him.
Referring to the events of 2022 when Eknath Shinde took 40 MLAs to Surat and Guwahati, Patel highlighted that it was anticipated that the MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) government would collapse. He also emphasized that the decision of the NCP to align with the Shiv Sena was not due to any ideological differences, asserting that if the situation arose, they could collaborate with the BJP as well.
Patel also revealed that the NCP currently has more than 40 MLAs supporting them, affirming, “We have 40+ MLAs with us; there is no question about that.”
Despite the recent political developments, Patel expressed his hope that politics would not affect family relationships, and he regarded himself as an extended part of the Pawar family. He appealed to Sharad Pawar to accept this sentiment, acknowledging that Pawar should make decisions according to what he deems best.
Praful Patel, a Rajya Sabha MP and a close associate of Sharad Pawar, has consistently worked alongside him during their tenure as ministers in the Congress-led UPA government. Patel’s expressions of deep reverence for Pawar underscore their enduring relationship and mutual respect.
Despite the recent political shifts, Patel’s positive sentiments towards Sharad Pawar reflect his desire for the preservation of familial bonds and an optimistic outlook for their continued relationship.
